The quickest reliable check
- Dial *#06#. If the phone shows an EID alongside its IMEI, eSIM hardware is present.
- Open the SIM settings and look for Add eSIM or Add Cellular Plan.
- Check the exact model number—not only the marketing name—against the manufacturer and TripoSIM lists.
- Confirm the phone is carrier-unlocked before buying.
Common supported families
| Brand | Typical supported starting point | Important exception |
|---|---|---|
| Apple iPhone | iPhone XR, XS and newer | Some mainland China models omit eSIM |
| Samsung Galaxy S | S20 series and newer | Support can vary by market and carrier firmware |
| Samsung Galaxy Z | Recent Fold and Flip models | Check the exact regional variant |
| Google Pixel | Pixel 3a and newer | Carrier-sold variants can differ |
| Other Android | Selected Motorola, Sony, Oppo, Xiaomi, Huawei and OnePlus models | Do not assume an entire brand or series is supported |
The official TripoSIM checker currently lists 119 compatible entries and four unsupported examples. Recheck it before purchase.
Check an iPhone properly
- Open Settings → General → About.
- Look for EID and, under Carrier Lock, “No SIM restrictions”.
- Open Settings → Cellular or Mobile Service and confirm Add eSIM is available.
- Check the model number if the phone was bought in mainland China or another market with regional differences.
Check Samsung, Pixel and other Android phones
On Samsung, open Settings → Connections → SIM manager and look for Add eSIM. On Pixel, use Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Add SIM. Other manufacturers may place the option under Mobile network. If the menu is absent, search the exact model number on the manufacturer’s support site; a software update will not add missing eSIM hardware.
Devices that need extra caution
If the QR code is rejected
- Check whether the TripoSIM profile already appears in SIM settings.
- Confirm the QR was not installed on another phone; TripoSIM says one code is for one device and cannot be transferred.
- Try manual SM-DP+ details when they were supplied.
- Record the exact message and contact support before deleting anything.
Can a TripoSIM eSIM be moved?
Do not plan on transferring an installed profile to a replacement phone. The official setup guidance treats the QR code as device-specific. If the handset is lost, replaced or reset, contact support with the order number instead of assuming the original QR can be scanned again.
