Why 28, 34, 35 and 36 countries matter
A regional name is not a coverage guarantee. Two plans can both say “Europe” and still handle the same itinerary differently. The UK and Switzerland appear in many packages, but neither should be assumed from an EU label. Turkey and the Western Balkans are the common route-breakers: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia need to be checked one by one.
Airport transfers count too. Add a connection country when you need mobile data there, even without leaving the terminal.
Choose by an actual journey
| Itinerary | Sensible starting point | Final check |
|---|---|---|
| Paris and Amsterdam, 5 days | 1–2 GB fixed plan | Both countries and seven-day validity |
| Italy, Switzerland and France, 10 days | 3–5 GB regional plan | Switzerland in the exact package |
| London, EU and Turkey | Wider Europe or Europe + Turkey plan | UK and Turkey listed together |
| Balkan road trip | Plan selected from the full country list | Every border, not the regional headline |
| Laptop work for a month | 10–25 GB with hotspot | Tethering and backup connection |
How much data is realistic?
- 1–2 GB: maps, messages, bookings and disciplined use over a short break.
- 3–5 GB: a week or two with navigation, translation and moderate photo sharing.
- 10 GB: frequent uploads, music and occasional laptop work.
- 25 GB or more: remote work, video or several weeks away—provided hotspot is shown on the product.
Set it up without risking the home SIM
Install on reliable Wi-Fi before departure and save the QR code, APN and order number offline. On iPhone, choose TripoSIM under Settings → Cellular/Mobile Service → Cellular Data and disable Cellular Data Switching. On Android, select it under SIM manager or Network & Internet → SIMs and turn off automatic data switching. Keep data roaming off on the home line.
If data stops after a border
- Confirm the new country is covered by the purchased package.
- Keep TripoSIM selected for mobile data and apply its roaming instruction.
- Toggle airplane mode, wait for registration and restart once.
- Leave carrier selection automatic first; use a listed partner manually only if needed.
- Do not delete the eSIM while support is diagnosing it.
