The five-minute arrival sequence
- Confirm the eSIM line is switched on and has a label you recognise.
- Select it as the mobile-data line and disable automatic data switching.
- Enable data roaming on the travel eSIM if the provider requires it.
- Turn airplane mode on for 15 seconds, then off.
- Check the provider account for “active”, remaining data and validity.
- Restart the phone if registration still fails.
Bars but no data
Signal bars show radio registration, not a working internet session. Compare the APN shown in cellular settings with the provider’s installation email. Enter the APN exactly; leave username and password blank unless instructed. Disable a VPN, custom DNS or content filter temporarily, then test a plain website.
No service
Set network selection to automatic first. If the phone does not register after several minutes, use manual selection and try only networks listed by the eSIM provider. An unsupported network can show briefly but reject data. Return to automatic selection after the test.

Save the provider instructions, QR code, manual activation values and this page offline. Download maps and transport tickets. If the trip depends on connectivity, keep a small home-carrier roaming allowance or a second eSIM option as a fallback.
